Your Google listing, your best salesperson
Your Google listing is worth more than your next Facebook campaign

You may be investing time and money in content, social media or even advertising. Meanwhile, the most profitable part of your online presence is probably the one you've always neglected: your Google Business Profile.
What September's SEO news tells us
Specialist Violetta Bonenkamp is clear: local visibility no longer really depends on the content you publish, but on how quickly people can understand, trust and contact you. Three signals deserve priority. First, a complete, honest Google Business Profile: the right business category, current opening hours, recent photos and services described in plain language. Next, meaningful reviews: a review explaining that a repair was completed the same day, with a clearly explained invoice, converts far better than a bare star rating without context. Finally, local pages that answer real questions about an area, instead of the usual copy-and-paste “service in + town name” repeated for every municipality.
A 30-day sprint to take back control
The article proposes a practical plan. Week 1: a rigorous audit, searching for your own business from a phone and noting every point of friction. Week 2: fix your Google listing and website. Week 3: start collecting reviews and clean up citations (the same name, address and phone number everywhere your business appears). Week 4: add another piece of local evidence and, above all, measure real business actions: calls, direction requests, bookings and quotes. A good ranking that brings no calls is useless.
The most expensive mistakes
Different business names across platforms, fictitious addresses to inflate your presence, bought reviews or interchangeable “town” pages with no useful information: these mistakes quietly sabotage your local visibility.
What you can actually do this week
Search for your business from your phone, like a real customer. Note every incorrect opening time, broken link and obstacle before reaching you.
Reply to your last 5 reviews, positive or negative. Give a human response in both cases, never a copy-and-paste one.
Make your name, address and phone number consistent everywhere they appear online. It's often the most overlooked detail, and the most influential.
In summary
With AI search and conversational answers, search engines need verifiable, consistent facts about your business more than ever. An up-to-date listing and detailed reviews now do more than help Google: they also inform what AI says about you when asked for a local recommendation.
