What should a building contractor's website include?
Your trades and services, your service area (the municipalities where you work), before / after projects, your insurance and accreditations, customer reviews, and a quote request that asks the right questions: address, type of work, floor area, preferred timing, photos. Fewer wasted calls, more useful site visits.
Quote signed online, Peppol invoice sent
With Quotes & invoices, you prepare the quote from the customer record, they sign it online, then the deposit invoice and final invoice are sent from the same tool. Since 1 January 2026, invoices to Belgian VAT-registered businesses (property managers, developers, general contractors) must be electronic and structured: yours are sent through Peppol, the e-invoicing network. Find out more in our Peppol guide.
Receiving photos of a leak or a façade on WhatsApp? With WhatsApp messaging, they are stored in the customer record, visible to the whole team.
Which rules should you display in Belgium?
Checked in September 2026. General guidance, to confirm with your federation or adviser.
- Ten-year liability insurance. Since 1 July 2018, contractors whose work affects a home's structural stability must be insured when an architect's involvement is mandatory (law of 31 May 2017).
- 6 % VAT. Renovation of a private home more than 10 years old, invoiced to the end user, may qualify for the reduced rate (Wikifin, FSMA): explain this on your services page.
- Access to the profession. In Brussels, basic business management knowledge has no longer been required since 15 January 2024, but construction trades still require proof of professional competence (Brussels Economy and Employment).
- Legal information. Business name, address, company number and a quick way to contact you (Code of Economic Law, art. III.74).
Which renovation grants can your customers get in 2026?
Your customers will ask before signing: in 2026, support depends on the region. Renolution grants are suspended in Brussels; in Wallonia, the temporary grant scheme ends on 30/09/2026 and the Region supports renovation through loans from 1 October 2026; Flanders retains Mijn VerbouwPremie. Explain this clearly on your website, with sources, without promising any amount.
- Brussels: Renolution grants suspended. “These grants are currently suspended”, states Brussels Environment, adding that no government decision yet provides for a new form of support (Brussels Environment, page dated 14/09/2026). Do not promise a grant to a customer in Brussels.
- Wallonia: temporary grants end, loans from 1 October 2026. The temporary energy renovation grant scheme, in place since 14/02/2025, ends on 30/09/2026 (wallonie.be, 25/09/2026). From 1 October 2026, the Region supports energy renovation through loans: Rénopack (zero interest and a reduction in the amount repayable, households in categories C1 to C3) and Rénoprêt (category C4, landlords, co-owned properties), up to €75 000 for a single-family home. These target homes with a PEB energy rating of G or F upgraded to at least D, or E upgraded to at least C (wallonie.be, updated on 25/09/2026).
- Flanders: Mijn VerbouwPremie. Individuals and businesses apply online, in Dutch, for roofs, walls, floors, window frames, electrical and plumbing work or a heat pump. For several types of work, the contractor carrying it out completes and signs a certificate attached to the application (vlaanderen.be).
A dated “Grants and support” page on your website reassures customers and saves you calls: link to official pages instead of stating an amount. Checked in September 2026.
