Blogging in 2026: outdated tool or useful asset?

Video, social media and now AI-generated answers in Google: many entrepreneurs wonder whether a blog is still worth the time it takes. The short answer: yes, if every article answers a real customer question. Here is why.

Does a blog still help with Google's AI answers?

Yes. Google says there are no extra requirements or special optimisations to appear in its AI features, such as AI Overviews and AI Mode: SEO fundamentals still apply, including quality content (Google Search Central, AI features and your website). An article that clearly answers a question remains a gateway to your website.

What does a blog bring to your SEO?

  • A page for each customer question. Every article can answer a specific question your customers type into Google, in their own words. Your home page cannot answer everything.
  • A route to your services. An article directs readers to the relevant service page, where they can contact you.
  • Reasons to be cited. A useful guide with sourced figures is easier to share: a partner, federation or local media outlet may link to it.

Do you need to publish often?

Publishing often is not an end in itself. Google says clearly that adding lots of content or changing a page date to make it look recent does not help its ranking. What matters is content written for readers first, showing your experience and expertise and inspiring trust (Google Search Central, creating helpful, reliable, people-first content).

One good article a month is worth more than one empty article a week. For the writing itself, read our tips:

7 essential tips for SEO writing

Build credibility in your sector

A blog shows what you can do before the first call: your methods, advice and the questions you handle every day. A visitor who finds a clear answer from you has a reason to trust you.

How do you get started?

  • List the ten questions your customers ask most often: those are your first ten articles.
  • Answer in the first paragraph, then go into detail.
  • Cite and date the source of every figure.
  • Link every article to the relevant service page.
