Do you run an SME in Brussels and have a website project in mind? The Brussels-Capital Region reimburses part of the work through its digitalisation grant: starting at 25% of eligible expenses, rising to 70% with supplements, up to €10 000 per year. Here's who qualifies, which projects are covered, how to calculate your grant and how to apply without falling foul of the conditions.
Is the digitalisation grant still available in 2026?
Yes. On 12 August 2026, the Brussels Region suspended several grants (training, consultancy, recruitment, coworking), but the digitalisation grant remains available, along with all investment grants. Applications submitted before 12 August 2026 for a suspended grant continue to be processed under the applicable rules.

What is the digitalisation grant?
The digitalisation grant is support from the Brussels-Capital Region that reimburses part of a consultancy assignment entrusted to an external provider in three areas: digitalising your internal processes, securing your company's IT, and developing or technically improving your website. It is aimed at Brussels SMEs.
The assignment must be exceptional: meeting a specific need for which your business lacks in-house skills. Regular or ongoing outsourcing is not eligible.
Who can receive the digitalisation grant?
An SME can receive the grant if it has at least one operating establishment in the Brussels-Capital Region, works in an eligible sector (NACE-BEL codes) and has an economic and commercial purpose. It must not receive more than 75% of its funding from public authorities or have received more than €300 000 in de minimis aid over three years.
The other conditions on the official page:
- be up to date with filing and publishing annual accounts;
- have a diversity plan if the company has more than 50 employees;
- submit the application before the assignment starts, no later than the day before.
How much is the digitalisation grant worth?
The grant covers 25% of eligible expenses excl. VAT. Supplements can raise this rate to a maximum of 70%. The amount is capped at €10 000 per calendar year per beneficiary, with a minimum grant of €500 per assignment and no more than two subsidised assignments per year.
The supplements published by Brussels Economy and Employment:
- Starter (registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises for less than 4 years): +25% for a micro or small business, +20% for a medium-sized business;
- Exemplary environmental performance: +30% for a micro or small business, +20% for a medium-sized business;
- Exemplary social performance: +30% for a micro or small business, +20% for a medium-sized business.
The criteria for exemplary performance are detailed on the Exemplary Business Performance page.
Calculation example. A small business registered two years ago commissions €6 000 excl. VAT of technical improvements to its website. Rate: 25% + 25% (starter) = 50%, giving a €3 000 grant. If it is also recognised for exemplary environmental performance, the calculated rate (80%) is capped at 70%, giving €4 200.
Which website projects are eligible?
A one-off assignment to develop or technically improve your website is eligible if completed within six months by a provider independent of your business. A technical redesign or performance improvement, for example, may qualify; a maintenance subscription or ongoing service does not. The administration makes the final decision.
The provider must also meet specific conditions: consultancy must be their main activity, they must specialise in the field, have worked in it for at least two years, demonstrate this through references, be independent of your business and invoice you directly. This is often where applications get stuck: ask the provider to confirm in writing that they meet these conditions before submitting your application.
How do you apply for the digitalisation grant?
Apply online through Brussels Economy and Employment's MonBEE platform, no later than the day before the assignment starts, with the provider's proposal. A decision is issued within four months of receiving a complete application. After the assignment, you send your supporting documents to receive payment.
The official timeline, step by step:
- Prepare your application: assignment description, provider's proposal and required attachments.
- Submit your application on MonBEE before any work starts.
- Start the assignment no earlier than the day after applying, and no later than three months after notification of the grant decision.
- Send supporting documents (including invoices and proof of payment) no later than twelve months after notification of the decision.

Does the digitalisation grant cover a website subscription?
In principle, no: the grant targets one-off consultancy assignments, rather than regular or ongoing services. A monthly subscription including hosting, maintenance and improvements is closer to continuous outsourcing. If in doubt, ask Brussels Economy and Employment before signing anything.
This is also why we don't promise the grant on our packs: only the administration decides whether an assignment and provider are eligible. If the grant doesn't apply, a subscription remains the simplest way to spread the cost of a website: Eazyclick packs range from €69 to €299/month excl. VAT, with a dedicated project manager, and we build websites for businesses in Brussels and its 19 municipalities.
